Friendship Hop for Simonne!

Hi Everyone!

Today the Whimsy DT members are hosting a  friendship hop in honor of a special member of the Whimsy Stamps family, Simonne Clay! Simonne has been a fixture here at Whimsy for many years and we all just wanted to show our appreciation for all that she does for each of us and for sharing her amazing talent as an illustrator. :)

I wanted to use one of Simonne's own stamps, so I used her fabulous 'Chalkboards 2' sentiment set, available at the Whimsy Stamps store. This would be one of my absolute fave go-to birthday and friendship card stamp sets!

The papers are from Kaisercraft 'Storyteller', and I used a Nestabilities Decorative Labels 8 to frame the sentiment.

Thank you so much for all you do for us Simonne! And hope you are loving the love!! {{{HUGS!!}}}

And now it's time to continue with the Friendship Hop in honour of our sweet Simonne...

Hope you have enjoyed all the creations, and please feel free to leave some love and a message for Simonne on the Whimsy Blog!

See you next week!

Whimsy Inspiration - Christmas Scene Builder

Hi Everyone!
I have some Whimsy inspiration to share with you today!

For this card I inked up the new 'Christmas Scene Builder' set by SC Designs, available at the Whimsy Stamps store.

I had a lot of fun creating this scene as I've never attempted a night sky before. I sponged it using several different colours of Memento Dew Drops, and using post it notes to mask for the snow and moon.

I then stamped the images directly onto the card (masking a bit in front of the trees to look like snow drifts). I added some snow with a Signo white pigment pen.

I framed the scene with dark blue cardstock, then white, and a final layer of dark blue, before mounting onto a white card base.

Hope you like it!

Here's what I used:
Whimsy Stamps Products:
'Christmas Scene Builder' set by SC Designs (Simonne Clay), available at Whimsy Stamps;
Colouring Medium/Ink: Memento 'Tuxedo', 'Summer Sky', 'Paris Sky', and 'London Fog' Ink.
Papers: Cardstock - Bazzill; DP - n/a;

Whimsy Inspiration - Winter Wonderland Tutorial

Hi Everyone!

I have some Whimsy Inspiration to share with you today!

This week I shared a short tutorial on the Whimsy Inspiration Blog using the gorgeous new image and sentiment set called 'Winter Wonderland' from Simonne Clay (SC Designs). So I thought I'd pop it on here too ;)

You’ll need:

white cardstock
Bazzill ‘Simon' cardstock

Memento ‘London Fog’ and 'Rhubarb Stalk' Ink
Spellbinders Nestibilities ‘Romantic Rectangles’
Manual die-cutting machine
Kaisercraft 'Red' Pearls

1. Trim a piece of white cardstock to 6 1/4" x 8 1/2", then score and fold to create a card blank. Cut a piece of  teal cardstock 6 1/8" x 4 1/16" and attach to the card front.

2. Die cut a Romantic Rectangle from white cardstock, and attach to card.

3. Trim another piece of white cardstock to 5 3/5" x 3 3/8" (which will fit neatly inside the romantic rectangle). Onto this piece stamp 'Winter Wonderland' birch trees in London Fog ink several times, leaving a gap on the right hand side (for your deer later). For added interest shift your stamp to get different 'heights' on your trees.

4. Stamp several more trees around the first ones and in the gap, this time 'kissing' your inked stamped onto a tissue first to leave just whispy impressions with the remaining ink.

5. Stamp the Winter Wonderland deer with Rhubarb Stalk ink in the gap in the trees.

6. Adhere stamped scene to card.

7. Die cut a Fancy Label Die from teal cardstock, and trim a piece of white cardstock to fit neatly inside. Stamp with Winter Wonderland sentiment in Rhubarb Stalk, and add to left hand side of card. Finish with a couple of tiny red pearls.

Hope you have a wonderful week!

Whimsy Inspiration - Chalkboards 2

Hi Everyone!
I have some more Whimsy inspiration to share with you today!

For this card I again inked up the 'Chalkboards 2' sentiment set by SC Designs, available at the Whimsy Stamps store. Love this set!

This card is fairly similar to one I made a couple of weeks ago, but I thought it was worth showing how fab this set is for adapting to different people and occasions. This time I needed a Birthday card,  so I stamped the birthday sentiment with Memento Tuxedo Ink. I cut it out with Nestabilities Labels 8, and sponged around the edge with Distress Ink 'Frayed Burlap'.

I framed this with the matching Nestabilities Decorative Labels 8, and added it to my card made with My Mind's Eye - 'Hattie' 6x6 papers. (I've been hoarding these for AGES!!)

To finish I added a triple twine bow, some roses from Wild Orchid Crafts, and pearls.

Hope you like it!

Here's what I used:

Hi Everyone!

Hope you are having a happy week!

Well I did say I was going to make another of these fun slider cards... so here it is! :) But in different colours and papers to give a very different feel.

The papers are from Sweet Shoppe Designs 'A Walk In the Park' digital kit, and the cardstock is 'Naturals Ivory' from SU. I've used Distress Ink 'Frayed Burlap' around all edges for an aged look.

To finish my card I added a Gardenia and some White Sweetheart Blossoms from I Am Roses.

Hope you like my card!

Mini Chalkboards Slider Card

Hi Everyone!

In case you are getting a distinct feeling of déjà vu... yes you have seen this card before! For some reason the post with this card vanished (including the lovely comments from Maxine D and Sandra H... grrr!)

Since it's one of my Whimsy DT creations I'm putting it right back where it belongs, and telling it to stay put! ;) (Not that Blogger ever listens to me!)

This was the first thing I made using my new Silhouette Portrait, and the first of two 'Slider cards'.

I used the fabulous new "Mini Chalkboards" sentiments set from Simonne Clay's  SC Designs Collection, available at the Whimsy Stamps store. I love how perfectly theses sentiments fit in the centre with this design.

I used the Silhouette slider-card template by Lori Whitlock, and the papers are from Sweet Shoppe Designs 'I Am Enough' digital kit, and the cardstock is 'Dark Blue' from CM.

The sentiment is stamped with Memento 'Tuxedo', and I used Distress Ink 'Old Paper' around all edges. To finish I added some roses from I Am Roses.

Hope you like my card!

Whimsy Stamps March Rubber & Die Release - Final Day!

Hi everyone and welcome to the final day of the Whimsy Stamps March Rubber & Die Release week!

Today the Whimsy DT is holding a blog hop to share creations made with the brand new Wee Stamps and Time 4 Tea Designs stamps that were released on Wednesday. All of our March release is now available to buy from the Whimsy Store and all good Whimsy Stamps retailers!

We have hidden FOUR prizes of 2 new release rubber stamps somewhere on the DT’s blogs throughout the 5-day release event.  As the location of the prizes are secret, be sure to leave a comment on ALL the stops on each daily blog hop to maximize your chance of winning! We will draw the lucky winners over the weekend and announce them here on the Whimsy blog on Monday (March 24th).

For my card today I used the adorable new "Pretty Petals" by Time 4 Tea Designs,  along with a sentiment from the fab new set from SC Designs Collection, "Girl Talk". I seriously had problems with this set... but instead of my usual problem of not being able to find a sentiment to match my card/image, my problem was deciding which one to use! I LOVE this set and see myself using it a LOT - especially with 3 nieces. It will be perfect for all sorts of little girl (and big girl!) cards!

The papers are from a digital kit by Sweet Shoppe Designs called "Be You: Hopeful", and I also paper-pieced her pretty little dress with this. The image is coloured with Copics (listed below), then fussy cut out and mounted with foam for extra dimension.

I finished it off with just a few roses and pearls. Hope you like it!
